What exactly is BYOS?

BYOS — Build Your Own Software — is a modular business software platform from UpSquad. You assemble the modules your business needs (CRM, Orders, Inventory, Finance, HR, Website…), customise them, host them on infrastructure you control, and keep evolving them with AI plus a BYOS Engineer on subscription.

Where does it run?

On your own VPS, cloud or on-prem server — or on a "Client Cloud" VPS that we provision inside your hosting account (Hostinger, DigitalOcean, AWS). The minimum is a 2 vCPU / 4 GB box with Docker, roughly ₹500–1,000 a month. Enterprise deployments run on your Kubernetes.

What is the ₹10,000 first month?

Every plan costs ₹10,000 for the first month, regardless of which capacity you choose. It confirms your place, covers onboarding, and gets your engineer started. From month two you pay the monthly price of the plan you picked.

What does a BYOS Engineer actually do?

They understand your business, configure your modules, supervise AI-assisted development, build extensions and integrations, review every change, manage releases and troubleshoot. You get real development work each month, sized to your plan — not just support tickets.

Is the engineer dedicated to me?

Starter through Pro give you a shared engineer with capacity reserved for you (10% to 80% of a full-time engineer). The Personal plan is a dedicated, full-time-equivalent engineer with instant call access and live collaboration.

Can I change, pause or cancel my plan?

Yes. You choose and manage your subscription. Upgrade or downgrade any month, pause when things are quiet, or cancel outright. If you cancel, your software keeps running — you simply stop receiving updates, support and engineering time.

Who owns the code and the data?

Your data, server, domain, configuration, workflows, themes and client-specific extensions are yours. The platform and standard modules are UpSquad's, licensed to you under a source-available licence: read it, modify it, self-host it for your own business.

How is this different from SaaS?

SaaS rents you access to software on the vendor's cloud and takes it away when you stop paying. BYOS runs on your server, holds your data on your box, and keeps running after you cancel. Our recurring revenue comes from continuous improvement — never from holding your data hostage.
